Alabama basketball big man Aiden Sherrell’s transfer is official.
According to a report by On3’s Pete Nakos, Sherrell entered the portal with a Do Not Contact tag on Thursday, April 9.
After a sophomore season averaging 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, the 6-foot-10 shot blocker is emerging quickly as a target for other schools, including other squads in the SEC.
Here are five teams to keep an eye on, per Joe Tipton of On3.
LSU
The General is back in Baton Rouge. As coach Will Wade looks to turn around one of the worst programs in the conference, one of the keys will be an anchor to the Tigers’ frontcourt. Look no further than Sherrell, who shifted from his natural position at the four and transformed into a dominant center in 34 starts after only coming off of the bench as a freshman.
Indiana
Five Hoosiers are in the portal after going 18-14 in Darian DeVries’ first season, leaving room for breakout talent like Sherrell to take IU to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023.
Michigan (or Michigan State)
Sherrell is a native of Detroit, so naturally, these Big Ten powers would look to bring him home. Michigan has the edge of a national championship, but a center could bridge the gap to a national title for Michigan State, and Tom Izzo can hold his own against Dusty May.
Missouri
With Mark Mitchell out of the picture, the Tigers will need someone new to fill the ‘boss’ role in their offense. Sherrell is a true combo forward, and he offers some size that can help Mizzou remain one of the lengthier teams in the SEC.
