The Louisville football community is mourning the loss of one of its former players.In a statement shared by the program Friday, they announced the death of Browning Nagle, 57, a former quarterback who played for the Cards from 1987 to 1991.Nagle is best remembered for his time with UofL, where he helped lead the Cards to a 1991 Festa Bowl victory over Alabama. After his college career came to a close, he was selected in the fifth round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and spent time with several teams during his professional career, including the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons.Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm, who served as Nagle’s backup quarterback from 1989 to 1990, released a statement in the wake of his passing, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with #7 Browning Nagle, his wife Michelle, and his entire family today. A true Cardinal great! We will all miss him very much. Love you buddy!”Nagle’s cause of death and plans for a funeral have not yet been released.
