It seems even famous Oscar-nominated actors aren’t immune to the lure of a well-crafted truffle.

Actor Alec Baldwin made an appearance at Rembrandt Yard in Boulder on Thursday night during the Boulder International Film Festival’s CineChef event. The actor, who is in town as a special guest for the 22nd annual Boulder International Film Festival, was seen at the event as attendees circulated between chef stations, sampling film-inspired dishes.

“Alec stopped by CineChef, chatted with all the chefs, enjoyed the amazing food, and connected with guests – everyone had a great night, and he had a great time,” said BIFF co-founder Kathy Beeck.

CineChef is BIFF’s annual tasting competition where Colorado chefs translate movies into a single, hand-held bite. This year’s all-women lineup, themed “Badass Women Chefs,” included everything from “Kill Bill”-inspired bao buns to a chocolate Eye of Sauron pulled from “The Lord of the Rings.”

Rainbow Shultz, chef and owner of the Jamestown Mercantile Cafe, took home the People’s Choice trophy for her dish inspired by Wes Anderson’s “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.”

Baldwin’s drop-in comes ahead of a more formal appearance Friday, when he’s scheduled for a live recording of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast with Scott Feinberg at 1:15 p.m. at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St, Boulder. Find the full schedule at biff1.com.
