Alabama transfer forward/center Aiden Sherrell announced his commitment to Indiana basketball today.

The 6-foot-11 and 255-pound Sherrell averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.2 blocks per game as a sophomore in 2025-26. He ranked No. 2 in the SEC in blocks and No. 13 in Division I. He recorded 76 blocks, which ranks No. 7 on Alabama’s all-time single season list and led the SEC.

Sherrell’s shooting splits were 53.8% overall, 33.3% from three (on 78 attempts), and 71.4% at the free throw line.

A product of Detroit, Mich., Sherrell has two years of eligibility remaining. He played prep school basketball for both Wasatch Academy and Prolific Prep.

Sherrell was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal.  He is ranked the No. 11 overall transfer this cycle by 247Sports, and No. 12 by On3/Rivals.  IU has the No. 2 and No. 1 overall portal class as of Wednesday afternoon at those outlets, respectively.

He is the fifth transfer portal addition for IU, joining Samet Yiğitoğlu (SMU), Markus Burton (Notre Dame), Jaeden Mustaf (Georgia Tech) and Darren Harris (Duke).

Indiana has four scholarship openings remaining on its 2026-27 roster.
