Patton Oswalt is stepping into the world of Stephen King.
The comedian and actor, 57, will narrate the audiobook of Stephen King’s upcoming novel Other Worlds Than These, out this fall from Scribner.
The final installment of King’s The Talisman trilogy, which he co-wrote with late author Peter Straub, Other Worlds Than These reconnects readers with beloved protagonist Jack Sawyer. This time, Jack is older and tasked with a new challenge: stop the destruction of the world from infected teenagers from America-side and the infamous forces of the Gullet at the edge of Mid-World, per the book’s synopsis.

The Talisman trilogy also includes 1984’s The Talisman and 2001’s Black House.
For Oswalt, also the author of books including his 2015 memoir Silver Screen Fiend, entering the King multiverse was a dream come true.

“I’ve been a Stephen King fan since I was 10. His books were a huge part of how I fell in love with storytelling in the first place so having the opportunity to narrate Other Worlds Than These feels a little unreal,” Oswalt says. “Being able to step into the Dark Tower universe and bring the final chapter of the Talisman trilogy to life is an absolute honor.”

As for the master of horror himself, having Oswalt on board is a “wonderful” feeling — especially since the actor may be able to connect with one of the book’s characters.
“Spoiler alert: In Other Worlds, there’s a character named Payton Orville, who’s… a stand-up comedian!” King, 78, says.
