VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has undergone a surgical procedure on Saturday evening following a health complication.

Soon after the news spread, messages wishing him speedy recovery started pouring in from across the political spectrum. His supporters have started organising prayers at temples for his quick recovery.

According to a statement issued by Jana Sena, the actor-politician had been unwell for the past few months. The health problem surfaced again during an official meeting in Amaravati on Friday.

On medical advice, Pawan Kalyan had been immediately admitted to a hospital in Vijayawada. Later, doctors shifted him to Hyderabad for further evaluation.

Sources said a series of tests, including an MRI scan, have been performed, following which doctors recommended immediate surgery. The Deputy CM underwent the surgery successfully on Saturday evening.

Medical experts have advised him complete rest for seven to 10 days. They underlined that full recovery will require sustained long-term care.

Party sources reveal that Pawan Kalyan had been suffering from a spinal disc-related issue. It reportedly got aggravated by an injury sustained during an action sequence for the film Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
