CBS‘ lineup will look a little different this year.
The network has canceled at least three shows since January 2026, including beloved newer series like Watson and the long-running talk show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“They’re extremely tough calls to make,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said at the Banff World Media Festival in June 2024 after NCIS: Hawai’i and So Help Me Todd were canceled, per Variety. “I’m a big fan of TV first and I sympathize and relate to all of the fans out there who are disappointed in the fact that these shows are ending.”
She continued, “We toss and turn and have sleepless nights and have endless discussions but we look at all of the numbers. We look at what our projections are for the future, we look at where we see opportunities to potentially have even bigger success on the schedule.”
However, those tough calls did make room in the network’s schedule for four new shows in the upcoming 2026-2027 season: Cupertino, NCIS: New York, Einstein and Eternally Yours.
Here’s everything to know about the four shows CBS canceled or ending so far in 2026.

Stephen Colbert announced in July 2025 that his late-night talk show was canceled after 10 seasons — and that, unlike when he took over for David Letterman in 2015, he was not going to be replaced.
“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS,” he told his audience. “This is all just going away. And I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners.”
CBS shared in a statement that the decision was financial and “not related in any way to the show’s performance.” The final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air on May 21.

After a seven-year run, Variety confirmed The Neighborhood‘s eighth season would be its last.
Reisenbach said in a March 2025 statement that the comedy, which starred Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield, “brought levity, laughter, and poignant storylines” to its audience.
“We believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series,” she said.
The series finale of The Neighborhood will air on May 11.

During a press event revealing CBS’s fall 2026-27 schedule, the network announced that Watson and DMV had been canceled.
Deadline reported that Reisenbach described the drama — which reimagined the detective as a doctor solving medical mysteries —as “a joy to work on.”
“Morris Chestnut is maybe one of the greatest No. 1’s I’ve ever dealt with,” she continued. “But, you know, it’s a high bar on CBS. We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows.”
After the news was announced, Chestnut thanked his fans on Instagram for “two incredible seasons.” The Watson series finale will air on May 3.

Weeks before its season 1 finale aired, CBS announced that DMV had not been renewed for a second season.
The comedy, based on author Katherine Heiny’s short story, starred an ensemble cast — including Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows and Tony Cavalero — as Department of Motor Vehicles employees.
DMV‘s series finale will air on May 11.
