The Reign are set to host a real home opener Sunday.
The club played its opening five matches on the road due to Lumen Field transitioning to Seattle Stadium for the FIFA men’s World Cup matches beginning in June. The Reign did classify their three matches in Spokane as home games, but nothing is like Lumen.
In addition to being on the road, the Reign had a two-week FIFA women’s international window delay their playing in front of their fans. The team is on a 10-match unbeaten streak when playing in Washington.
Here’s a look at Sunday’s match:
Reign (3-1-1) vs. Utah (2-2-1)
Time/place: 5 p.m. at Lumen Field in Seattle
TV: Victory+
Radio: 950 KJR AM
Series history: Seattle leads the all-time series 9-2-3 since 2018
Radio debut
Can’t make it to Lumen? The Reign recently announced they will broadcast 11 matches on 950 KJR AM and stream on the iHeartRadio app, a first for the team. Sunday is the debut, followed by May 1 (Houston), May 10 (Washington), May 22 (Boston), May 30 (Washington), July 12 (Portland), Aug. 1 (Bay FC), Aug. 9 (Angel City), Aug. 22 (Kansas City), Aug. 30 (Houston) and Sept. 6 (San Diego).
Club leader
Reign keeper Claudia Dickey became the team’s all-time leader in regular-season saves during their draw against the Denver Summit this month. The U.S. international’s three saves in the match gave her 190 since being drafted by the Reign in 2022, surpassing legend Hope Solo (187).
Injury updates
The FIFA break provided time for multiple players to return from injury. Backup keeper Cassie Miller was removed from the season-ending injury list; she’s been out since May 2025 with a leg injury.
Forward Mia Fishel, who’s only played in one match due to a leg injury, has been medically cleared along with forwards Maddie Dahlien (leg) and Holly Ward (leg).
Quotable
“I’m really happy,” Reign midfielder Angharad James-Turner said of getting consistent playing time. She started two of her five matches this year. “The second half of last season, I didn’t get as much minutes as I would’ve liked. So, I’m really happy with the start of the season for me, personally. We have such a strong group of players in the midfield. It’s a really competitive and tough place. To get any minutes is really something I truly don’t take for granted.”
