Almost every time Ari stepped out, she rocked a signature high ponytail, which turned out to be a deliberate style choice to help mask the severe damage she’d endured from consistently dyeing her hair red while starring on the Nickelodeon series Victorious.

“I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat… as one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair. … I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down,” she explained in 2014.
In recent years, Ari has ditched the ponytail and rocked a series of other hairstyles — including a blonde ‘do during the Wicked press tour, and, momentarily, her natural, short curls.
At the 2026 Golden Globes in January, Ari wowed fans by bringing back her signature pony.

And this week, she sent internet users into a frenzy once again after posting a bunch of Instagram photos rocking a long ponytail once again.
Though not quite as high as her signature pony, Ari’s hairstyle left fans writing, “She’s back to looking somewhat like herself,” and “Nature is healing.”

“This makes me so happy :)” one Instagram comment read. “the ponytail! the heels!” someone else wrote.
“Hairrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!” another comment read, while Ari herself wrote in a comment to celebrity hairstylist Alyx Liu, “i love this long (not high) pony @alyxliu sm 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 and you.”
