A hailstorm caused significant damage to Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post.

According to Dickerson Park Zoo, a 21-year-old female emu died from the hailstorm. A male rhea was also injured during the storm and is under veterinary care, according to the post.

Four-inch hail was reported at Dickerson Park Zoo during the storm.

In the comment section of the initial post, Dickerson Park Zoo said the emu was named Adam.

Dickerson Park Zoo said all other animals are safe. No guests or staff were injured during the storm, according to the post.

Dickerson Park Zoo will be closed Wednesday.
