Allen Iverson hosts the 10th annual Allen Iverson Classic this week. The Iverson Classic returned to Hampton on Thursday, bringing together many of the nation’s top high school senior boys basketball players.
The first events took place at Bethel High School’s Allen Iverson Gymnasium and will continue Saturday at Hampton Coliseum.
Thursday’s schedule featured a USA vs. World game, along with a dunk contest, 3-point shootout, and one-on-one competitions. The All-American game is set for Saturday.
One of the biggest names participating is Tyran Stokes, a 6-foot-7 forward from Seattle ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 recruit in the country, who recently announced his commitment to Kansas.
Also set to compete Saturday is Virginia native, Latrell Allmond, who led Petersburg to the Class 3 state championship. The roster also includes several other standout prospects, including 7-foot twins Adonis and Darius Ratliff, who are committed to Southern California, as well as Duke recruits Bryson Howard and Deron Rippey Jr.
Adonis and Darius Ratliff are the sons of former NBA player Theo Ratliff, a former teammate of Allen Iverson.
