EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Lillard continues to build on what has already been a busy year as sources tell Deadline he is set to join the Superman sequel Man Of Tomorrow from DC Studios. James Gunn is directing, producing and penned the script, with David Corenswet back as the Man of Steel.

DC Studios had no comment. It is unknown who Lillard will be playing in the movie.

Lillard joins an ensemble that includes Nicholas Hoult playing Lex LuthorLars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathon Fillion as Guy Gardner and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Adria Arjona is also on board to play Maxima and Aaron Pierre is also in the pic.

The film is currently in production and is set to bow on July 9, 2027.

Superman hit theaters July 11 and opened to $125 million at the domestic box office, eventually becoming the first DC movie to cross the $300 million mark at the domestic box office since 2022’s The Batman.

As for Lillard, he has had a busy couple months that began with his return to the Scream franchise with Scream 7 reprising his role of Stu Macher. He followed that up with a role in the second season of Cross and was also recently seen in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which just had its season finale on DIsney+.

Next up he can be seen in A24’s Carrie series. He is repped by Verve and Strand Entertainment.
