Michigan has received a commitment from Lake Nona (Florida) defensive back Charles Woodson Jr.

He is the son of former Wolverine great and Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson. He is now the defensive coordinator at Lake Nona.

Woodson Jr. is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound three-star, per the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Kentucky and others also offered.

Michigan offered Woodson Jr. under the previous staff. Kyle Whittingham and his staff immediately made him an emphasis, sending five coaches to his school in January.

“It was a good first impression,” Woodson Jr. said.

He finished his junior season with 73 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups.

He figures to play free safety at Michigan. The Wolverines have a bigger safety committed in the class, as well in Maxwell Miles of Las Vegas.

Michigan now has 10 commitments in their 2027 class. They are on a run of late with four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell and four-star Xavier Muhammad committing in the days prior to Woodson Jr.’s announcement.
