May 15 (UPI) — The Bride! is coming to HBO Max next week.

The film will start streaming May 22 on HBO Max and also premiere that day at 8 p.m. ET on HBO, a press release states.

The Bride! is a romantic drama written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. The movie is inspired by the 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, which itself is based on the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein.

The Bride! stars features Bale as a lonely “Frank,” who travels to 1930s Chicago to ask the scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman (Buckley) and The Bride is born.

“What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!” an official synopsis reads.
