Delhi Capitals bowler Madhav Tiwari halted a dangerous scoring run by dismissing Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 45 runs during their Indian Premier League match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Tiwari broke a rapid 70-run second-wicket partnership between Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel, leaving the Rajasthan Royals at 89 for the loss of two wickets after 7.3 overs.

Sooryavanshi fell just short of a half-century after facing 19 deliveries, hitting a slower ball from Tiwari down the ground where David Miller executed a sliding catch from long-on.

Prior to the dismissal, Jurel and Sooryavanshi accelerated the scoring rate, taking 17 runs off a single over delivered by Mukesh Kumar and 35 runs across two overs.

Jurel contributed heavily to the quick-fire 50-run partnership milestone by hitting Kumar for consecutive boundaries, including a six over the cow corner fence and a driven four past the bowler.

The scoring momentum continued against debutant offspinner Tripurana Vijay, whom Jurel targeted with a six over deep mid-wicket following a short delivery outside off stump.

Following the departure of Sooryavanshi, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag joined Jurel at the crease at the number four batting position.

Parag immediately faced bowler Axar Patel, scoring a boundary over the covers on his second delivery after Patel failed with an early leg-before-wicket review against the skipper.
