Casey Schmitt is on a tear, and he is making history along the way.
The Giants’ do-it-all super utility player homered again in San Francisco’s 8-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday at Oracle Park. With his 11th long ball of the season, Schmitt accomplished something only one Giants player had done in 126 years.
Schmitt got the start at first base on Sunday, but as the stat above highlights, he has homered in games while playing second, third, left field and as a designated hitter this season.
The 27-year-old also has played 54 games at shortstop in his MLB career, including one this season, so there is a chance he adds another position to the list.
At this rate, he also might want to invest in a catcher’s mitt.
