A spot in the third round is on offer on day four at the French Open. As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule, including Elena Rybakina vs Yulia Starodubtseva, Mirra Andreeva vs Marina Bassols Ribera, and Elina Svitlona vs Kaitlin Quevedo. But who will reach the third round at Roland Garros?

French Open Day 4 Predictions

Iga Swiatek vs Sara Bejlek

Amanda: Iga Swiatek opened the French Open with the type of dominant win that is expected from her as a four-time champion, and Sara Bejlek likely won’t provide much more of a challenge. Bejlek defeated Sloane Stephens in straight sets in the first round, but Stephens is far from playing her best tennis and that was just Bejlek’s second win of clay season. Swiatek should dominate in this match.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Nurein: Despite an underwhelming build up to the French Open for Swiatek, she remains the player to beat in this tournament given her immense success in Paris. Bejlek is comfortable hitting through opponents on clay, but I don’t she has the level to sustain it against Swiatek for long.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Andreas: The big test for Swiatek is winning this tournament, as she’s done four times. Meanwhile, Bejlek hit a four-match losing streak before this event; she can rip the ball and has lots of firepower on a good day, however. Swiatek can be shaky at times under pressure, but she should have enough to get through to the third round.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Sorana Cirstea vs Eva Lys

Amanda: In her retirement year, Sorana Cirstea has been rapidly on the rise and is showing no sign of slowing down as she won her first-round match in quick straight sets. While Eva Lys had a great opening match as well, she hasn’t been able to get over the hump against top players and doesn’t have the tools to defeat a red-hot Cirstea.

Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Nurein: Both Cirstea and Lys recorded emphatic wins in the opening round. But this is where experience could outshine youth. And there is extra motivation for the Romanian who is playing in her final French Open.

Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Andreas: While Lys has struggled to back up a great 2025 season, Cirstea reaches this round owning a stunning 25-9 record this year. She has the slightly stronger groundstrokes compared to Lys, and should be the heavy favorite to reach the next round.

Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Marie Bouzkova vs Fran Jones

Amanda: Fran Jones notched an impressive three-set win over Beatriz Haddad Maia in the first round of the French Open, but she’ll have a tougher test trying to defeat Marie Bouzkova. Bouzkova had a dominant first-round win and has a clay-court title under her belt from earlier in the season. She is more comfortable on the surface and can advance to the third round for the third year in a row.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 2

Nurein: Jones secured an incredible comeback victory against Haddad Maia. Her variety and fighting spirit make her a dangerous and Bouzkova cannot underestimate the Briton’s qualities. That said, if Bouzkova brings her disciplined approach into this match, she should make it to the third round.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 3

Andreas: Bouzkova lost just four games in her opener here, while Jones clawed back in a three-set win over Beatriz Haddad Maia. The 27th seed is more consistent on a good day, while Jones is yet to defeat a Top 50 player on clay courts. The Czech is eyeing a third appearance in the French Open third round, and she should be able to reach that stage Wednesday.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 2

Daria Snigur vs Peyton Stearns

Amanda: While Daria Snigur’s first-round win over Clara Tauson was impressive, it comes with the caveat that Tauson has been struggling with injury and hasn’t won a match since Indian Wells. In Peyton Stearns, Snigur will find a tougher, more match-ready opponent. Stearns tends to play drawn-out three-setters, something Snigur can force if she’s playing her best tennis, but Stearns knows how to pull through in moments like that and can use that experience to her advantage.

Prediction: Stearns in 3

Nurein: Stearns has developed into a solid clay-court player, but she doesn’ quite have stronger recent results on the surface. Snigur is comfortable on clay and produced a gusty three set win over Clara Tauson. That said, I think Stearns’ ability to maintain heavy pressure from the baseline should prove decisive.

Prediction: Stearns in 3

Andreas: While Stearns has the slightly higher ranking on tour, Snigur pulled off the more impressive French Open opening round win, defeating Clara Tauson 3-6 7-5 6-2. Stearns, meanwhile, dropped just six games in her opener, as she has the heavier groundstrokes and strong movement on clay. Yet, Snigur is at a career-high ranking, and I like her chances to keep her good form going coming off a big upset.

Prediction: Snigur in 2
