3 Seattle Mariners having career power months in May

The power bat of Cal Raleigh has been missing from the Seattle Mariners lineup for much of May. Julio Rodríguez, Luke Raley and J.P. Crawford have picked up the slack.

Mariners Injury Update: Latest on Carlos Vargas and more

The power surge from the Mariners’ trio was on full display Friday night as it combined for four homer runs, including Crawford’s first career multi-homer game, in a 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in 10 innings.

All three tied or set new personal bests for home runs in a single month during the game.

Below is a look at the home run totals each have provided Seattle’s offense this month. All stats are through Friday.

Julio Rodríguez

Rodríguez’s two-run homer Friday was his third in his past five games and ninth this month, surpassing the eight he hit in September/October 2023 and July 2025 for his most in a single month during his five-year career. He’s tied with Minnesota’s Byron Buxton for the most homers by a primary center fielder in May this season. He’s also second to Buxton in slugging percentage (.583), OPS (.899) and wRC+ (155), but Buxton has been the designated hitter in nine of his 20 games played this month while Rodríguez has played all but one of his 26 in center field.

Rodríguez has 11 homers on the season, which puts him on pace 31 – one shy of his career high.

J.P. Crawford

Crawford’s night on Friday included one of the most impressive home runs of his career, a 417-foot blast to center field on a well-located changeup for his longest homer of the season. The two-homer game brough Crawford’s total this month to seven, matching his career-best total from September/October 2023. He’s tied with Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. for most home runs by an MLB shortstop this month.

Crawford is on pace for 25 homers this season. His career high is 19 during the 2023 campaign.

Luke Raley

Raley hit his team-leading 12th homer on Friday and his seventh the month, tying March/April 2023 for his career best. Raley leads all primary right fielders in home runs this month. St. Louis’ Jordan Walker is only one behind, but Raley has produced his number with 36 less plate appearances. Among right fielders with at least 50 plate appearances, he’s first in slugging percentage (.690), OPS (1.055) and wRC+ (199). Raley’s wRC+ is also the best among all players in baseball with at least 60 plate appearances in May.

Raley is on pace for 34 homers this year, which would shatter his career high of 22 during the 2024 season.
