What is ‘The Pitt’ season 2 about?
“The Pitt” season 2 will take place over one shift, set 10 months after the Labor Day events depicted in season 1. The new season will follow Wyle’s character, Dr. Robby, who is trying to survive a July 4th shift, which is a notoriously busy day for any hospital, per USA TODAY.

According to Forbes, most of the major characters from season 1 will return for season 2 including, Dr. Jack Langdon (Patrick Ball), Dr. Melissa “Mel” (Taylor Dearden), Dr. Santos (Isa Briones), Whitaker (Gerran Howell), Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), Dr. Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez), and Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle).
It is unclear as to whether or not Katherine LaNasa’s character, nurse Dana Evans, will return since it seems she may have quit at the end of season 1. Forbes also reports that Tracy Ifeachor, who plays Dr. Heather Collins, has confirmed that she will not return for “The Pitt” season 2 as she feels her character’s arc is “complete.”
However, there will be a few new faces featured in the ER this season.
Sepideh Moafi will play Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, a new attending physician. Dr. Al-Hashimi is reportedly set to take over as Dr. Robby heads off on a “soul-cleansing motorcycle sabbatical,” USA TODAY writes.
Other new cast members include: Joy, a third-year medical student (Irene Choi); James, a fourth-year medical student (Lucas Iverson) and Emma, a recent nursing school graduate (Laetitia Hollard).
Where does ‘The Pitt’ take place?
“The Pitt” is set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, most of the filming for the series takes place in Burbank, California. Some scenes in season 2 were also shot at Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital, according to Decider.
