The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City meets American Idol tonight when Britani Bateman accompanies her niece CarmenLorell Martin to an audition for the singing competition.
“She’s definitely still her silly self,” Carmen says about her aunt. “She’s a little crazy, and I love it. She definitely has her own spotlight and she’s living out her dream and that’s why I’m here, too.”
The 20-year-old nanny from El Dorado, CA auditions with “Thought It Was Love” by Ty Myers. Britani then joins her niece to wow the judges in a duet of “Let Me Be Your Star” from Smash.
Britani shows up for the Idol audition with a glass and a knife, which she chimes, saying, “I have an announcement to make,” her signature from RHOSLC, but sadly, judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie don’t recognize the Bravo TV star and there’s an awkward moment when there’s crickets, when they aren’t in on the joke.
But Britani makes a quick recovery and says, “This is not about me. This is about my amazing, gorgeous, perfect niece, who you’re about to hear, and it’s insane.”
Carmen then sits down at the piano and sings “Thought It Was Love.”
“Good job,” Luke says.
“You have a really pretty voice,” Carrie adds. “Your range is really great. You are hitting some high notes in there.”

Then Carmen suggests she sing a song together with her aunt, which was the aforementioned “Let Me Be Your Star.”
Bateman grew up singing in her family’s musical group and, in December 2025, had her own cabaret show. She previously starred in a national tour of Miss Saigon. In addition, Bateman was a stage performer at Disney World.
More famously, however, Bateman has been known for her work on RHOSLC. She first appeared on the newest Housewives show on Season 5 in 2024, serving as a “Friend” of the group. She continued to pop up in episodes during the show’s sixth season. Bateman also made headlines the past two years due to her on-again, off-again relationship with Jared Osmond, the nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond.
