ANOTHER Denny’s location just served its last meal.
The popular diner spot has been shutting off griddles across the country, with another biting the dust.
The Herkimer, New York Denny’s quietly shut down in February, according to WKTV.
The chain restaurant, known for its grand slam breakfast and late night hours, has been in the process of sunsetting tons of US locations.
Denny’s said last year it had plans to close 150 underperforming stores.
The company went private in January after the sale of its business to a series of private equity groups.
“Denny’s will have enhanced flexibility and resources to invest in its brands, support franchisees and accelerate its growth initiatives,” a press release read.
“In connection with closing, Denny’s stockholders received $6.25 per share in cash for each share of Denny’s common stock they own.”
In September, the company had over 1,400 restaurants.
“Denny’s is an iconic piece of the American dream, with a renowned brand, a strong franchise base and loyal customers,” said Rohit Manocha, co-founder and managing director at TriArtisan, one of the private equity firms.
“Our team has significant investment experience in the restaurant industry, and our acquisition of Denny’s builds on our success with other full-service restaurant concepts.”
Last year, some of the locations shut in Calfornia, Idaho, Oregon and Ohio.
“We are grateful for the hard work of our employees and franchisees who represent our restaurants with pride every day,” Kelli Valade, the former CEO, said at the time of sale.
“With the support of our new owners, we look forward to continuing to serve and delight guests across the nation.”
The next closest Denny’s to the Herkimer location is in Utica, New York.
