IT FEELS A LITTLE MUGGY OUT THERE. SO WARM, HUMID CONDITIONS AND A COLD FRONT ON THE WAY MEANS THE RISK OF SEVERE STORMS GOES UP. IT’S NOT A GUARANTEE THAT IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN. NOTICE WE’RE IN THE LEVEL TWO SCATTERED ISOLATED STORMS POSSIBLE THAT LEVEL TWO RISK DOES MEAN THAT YOU KNOW IT’S BETTER. IT’S HIGHER THAN THE 0% CHANCE, BUT IT’S ONLY SCATTERED ACTIVITY EXPECTED. AND IT’S PRIMARILY NORTH AND WEST. NOW THE THE RISK OF A TORNADO DEVELOPING IN SOME OF THESE STORMS IS ONLY 5%. BUT THAT IS ELEVATED JUST A LITTLE BIT. THAT 5% RISK IS UP. YOU CAN LOOK AT IT THE OTHER WAY, 95% CHANCE THAT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD DOESN’T SEE A TORNADO. BUT WE’LL BE ON THE LOOKOUT AS SOME STORMS POSSIBLY COULD DEVELOP. NOTICE THE TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FROM HAGERSTOWN WEST. THIS IS THE PRIME AREA FOR STORMS TO DEVELOP INTO SEVERE LEVEL WITH DAMAGING WINDS, HAIL AND MAYBE AN ISOLATED TORNADO OUT IN THOSE AREAS. THERE’S BEEN SOME BANDS OF SHOWERS AND STORMS AND SOME LIGHTNING STRIKES, BUT NO SEVERE WEATHER REPORTED RIGHT NOW, AS THAT LINE OF SHOWERS TRIES TO MOVE EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS. THAT’S THE BIG QUESTION MARK. IT’S NOT A GUARANTEE, BUT SOME OF THOSE STORMS COULD SURVIVE THE TREK OVER THE MOUNTAINS INTO THE WARM, MUGGY AIR AROUND BALTIMORE. AND THAT’S WHY WE HAVE AT LEAST A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT A THUNDERSTORM WOULD DEVELOP INTO A SEVERE STORM. TEMPERATURES ARE STILL IN THE 80S, SO WE ARE PRIMED FOR THAT. AND UNTIL THAT COLD FRONT CAN GET THROUGH, WHICH ISN’T UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING, THE RISK OF A SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM WILL BE THERE. THAT’S A SIGNIFICANT COLD FRONT. AND THEN THE WHOLE SYSTEM MOVES OFF THE COAST THURSDAY NIGHT.
