BRISTOL, Tenn. – A weekend of NASCAR races at Bristol Motor Speedway

are set to continue on Saturday night with a NASCAR O’Reilly Series event.

But first, there was the order of sorting out the starting lineup, which was contested during qualifying on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Riding a wave of momentum coming into the weekend, Corey Day and the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet team

will line up 14th after a lap of 15.853 seconds. Kyle Larson

is also competing in the Saturday series this weekend after winning the event last year. He’ll start third in the No. 88 HendrickCars.com Chevy driving for JR Motorsports.

“I thought our car was really good firing off and it trended well through the run as well,” Day said after practice. “We made an adjustment there, I felt a little tight to start and I feel like that really brought it to life. So, thanks to my guys for bringing another really good car.”

Day took a massive step toward his first career NOAPS victory last week, winning the pole, leading 118 laps and sweeping both stages at Rockingham Speedway

. A 10th-place result extended his series-leading top-10 streak to seven. in addition to his qualifying speed, Day had the fastest 10-lap (15.89 seconds) and 15-lap (15.98) averages in practice.

Saturday’s race is set for a 7:30 p.m. start and will air on CW
