Boys will always insist on being present, and it was no different at the Oscars. I regret to inform you that there were many boys at the Oscars last night. Some of them were even dressed well. Credit must be given where it is due: sometimes boys look good.
For example, Damson Idris turned up in custom Prada and a brooch he designed himself, for his jewelry label, DIDRIS.
Lainey wasn’t feeling the fit of this outfit, but I think it’s meant to look like an overcoat. It’s got a kind of Edwardian vibe, especially with the brooch. If I had two nickels for every time someone came to the 2026 Oscars dressed for an old-timey funeral, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.
Brooches were big this year—Adrien Brody’s was literally the BIGGEST—as Wagner Moura, Kieran Culkin, and Shaboozey all rocked lapel jewelry. Shaboozey looked especially dapper in a suit by Mexican label Campillo, with Mikimoto jewelry.

Wagner Moura, meanwhile, opted for sleek tailoring:

And Miles Caton broke with the brooch trend, donning a tie pin which stood out against his solid-burgundy Amiri suit.

Pedro Pascal, however, wins the “shirt adornment” stakes with a giant flower thing. I’m not sure if that’s embroidered onto the shirt or a pin, but this is my favorite “dressed down” look of the night. Here’s Pedro striking a sassy pose:

And no, I do not mind the clean-shaven face. The internet is now casting Pedro and Wagner Moura in a buddy comedy, which is not the worst idea anyone has ever had. They do look enough alike to play brothers. They were in Narcos together, and though they rarely got to work together on the show, they did become friends in real life. Maybe this buddy comedy should actually happen, give us the Narcos reunion no one asked for, but make it funny this time.
Also going for a dressed-down look was Lewis Pullman. This is…not successful. I don’t love the ascot, or whatever that is, under his shirt collar—wear a tie or wear an ascot, pick a lane—and the striped shirt makes his suit look more business casual than casually suave. You are not a banker, Lewis Pullman! I do appreciate that Pullman makes some quirky fashion decisions—remember all those bolo ties on the Top Gun: Maverick press tour?—but this time, it didn’t quite come together. It pains me to say it! Pullman presented Best Editing along with his father, Bill, and finally, finally, everyone now knows that Bill Pullman pressed copy/paste and created Lewis Pullman.

Also, shout out to Kieran Culkin for saying the quiet part out loud. When Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another, Culkin accepted the award on his behalf because Penn “couldn’t be here or didn’t want to”. It’s that part, Kieran. At least someone acknowledged it.
