Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman’s wife, Chelsea Freeman, shared an update on her health alongside photos from her recent hospital stay.
“Real life today,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, April 9. “Had a colonoscopy this morning. Was so nervous…but the actual procedure was really easy. The prep was my least favorite part. Worth it for the peace of mind. If you’ve been putting something off…this is your sign to get checked.”
Her comments were joined by a photo of her arm with an IV attached as she was clearly lying down in a hospital bed.
Chelsea, 34, posted again just two hours later showing her enjoying some strawberries poolside, hammering the point home that she’s perfectly fine. She and Freddie, 36, are currently expecting their fourth child, a girl, via surrogate, and Chelsea’s post was to promote her Babylist registry.
“Working on my @babylist registry while resting today,” she wrote over the photo. “Realizing I basically gave everything away from when the boys were babies. Also how did everything get SO much better in the last 5 years?!”
Freddie and Chelsea married in 2014 and the couple share three sons, Charlie, born in 2016, Brandon, born in 2020, and Maximus, born in 2021. They announced they were expecting another baby in a joint Instagram post in February.

“Worth the wait. Baby #4 is on the way and our hearts are already so full,” the post read. “We are incredibly grateful for the amazing woman helping bring our baby into our lives, and we’re choosing to honor her privacy as we walk this chapter.”
This won’t be the first time the couple have welcomed a baby via surrogacy. They revealed in a 2021 interview with ESPN that after Charlie was born, they struggled to conceive again. After a surrogate was arranged to carry their second child, Chelsea became pregnant “almost immediately.”

“I think it’s an inspirational story that we have,” Freddie said at the time. “We tried for a couple of years, and it didn’t happen. We were talking with doctors, and they suggested surrogacy. We jumped at that, because we wanted to be blessed with more kids.”
Their latest bit of exciting news came less than two months after what Chelsea called the “most terrifying thing” she has ever been through, when the couple had to rush Maximus to the hospital in July 2024 when he was unable to sit, stand or walk. Doctors diagnosed him with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the nerves.
“He’s been so resilient,” Chelsea told Us Weekly exclusively in March 2025. “It’s been amazing to see. He’s still in [physical therapy] two times a week. It will be a full one-year recovery before he’s back to complete normal.”
She added, “It obviously taught us that health is everything. It was awful. He was fully paralyzed on a ventilator. Seeing him able to play outside, it’s really a miracle for how sick he was.”
