Rory McIlroy sat atop The Masters leaderboard late Friday.  Sportsbooks across the globe can’t be too happy at the moment. 

The defending champion entered this year’s Masters with odds between +1100 and +1300 and a payout of $1100 to $1300 for every $100 bet.

A McIlroy win would leave the sportsbooks heavily exposed as he was seeing significant volume early on. 

The 36-year-old McIlroy opened his title defense with a 5-under 67 to claim a share of the early lead with Burns at Augusta National and position himself for a run at becoming only the fourth player to win back-to-back Masters.

 “I know that I can go to the Champions Locker Room and put my green jacket on and have a Coke Zero at the end of the day,” McIlroy said.

Justin Rose sat within striking range of the leaderboard top position. 

Rose entered this week as one of the favorites, promising a payout of $1400 for every $100 bet. 

Those with longer odds creeping up towards the top of the leaderboard included Li Haotong.

He would pay around $25,000 for every $100 bet with a win, though Haotong was seeing reduced action early on. 

Wyndham Clark promised an even greater payout of near $30,000 for every $100 bet as he sat among the top ten Friday afternoon. 

Betting is available between each day’s play with odds adjusted accordingly.
