Lakers Facing Bronny James Decision After Unfortunate News on Wednesday

The Los Angeles Lakers head into Wednesday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers looking to respond after their loss to the Detroit Pistons, which snapped a nine-game winning streak. During that stretch, Los Angeles had emerged as one of the hottest teams in the league, with Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves leading a balanced offensive surge while the defense showed marked improvement.

That run, however, has not translated to opportunities for every player on the roster as second-year guard Bronny James continues to search for consistent minutes since entering the league. Drafted in the second round in 2024 after one season at USC, James struggled to crack the Lakers’ rotation during his rookie year, splitting time between the NBA and the G League.

That trend has carried into his 2025-26 campaign. Through 32 NBA games, James has again found himself on the fringes of the rotation. He averaging 2.1 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just seven minutes per game and continues to juggle assignments between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, South Bay.

Despite being active during the team’s recent road stretch, James has yet to see meaningful minutes and has not played in seven straight games.

However, that could change on Wednesday. The Lakers released their injury report ahead of the game, with Rui Hachimura (right calf soreness), Marcus Smart (right ankle contusion), and Adou Thiero (left knee soreness) ruled out. Starting center Deandre Ayton was also added to the report as questionable with back soreness.
