A well known former sports radio announcer in Philadelphia has been arrested for harassment and assault, according to court documents obtained by NBC10.

Mike Missanelli, 70, was arrested by the Lower Merion Police Department on Wednesday, April 8 and was charged with simple assault and harassment, the court document claims.

In a criminal complaint, officers explained that they were called to a home on Dale Road in the Wynnewood section of Lower Merion Township just after midnight after someone called 911 and hung up.

When officers got to the house, they found Missanelli who said that he and his fiancé got into a “scuffle” during an argument, officials reported.

Missanelli told police that his fiancé had hit him in the chest, officials said.

When speaking with Missanelli’s fiancé, she said the couple had been arguing about their engagement when he open hand slapped her on the left side of her face, the criminal complaint says.

The officer reported seeing what looked like fresh blood on her forehead as well as a laceration and her ear was swelling.

Missanelli is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 22, 2026.

Missanelli was a long-time radio host for 97.5 The Fanatic before he left the station in 2022.

He began his career in journalism as a writer with the Philadelphia Inquirer before working in Philly sports radio on 610 WIP and 93.3 WMMR.

As of last check, there was no attorney listed who could speak on behalf of Missanelli.
