Smith spent 2025 with the Bears, seeing action in all 17 games and catching four passes for 25 yards on six targets. He totaled 13 receptions over the last two seasons while serving primarily as a blocking tight end.

Over his first seven NFL seasons, all with the Miami Dolphins (2018-24), Smythe played in 112 games with 74 starts, 132 receptions for 1,228 yards and three receiving touchdowns, as well as four attempts for four yards and a touchdown on the ground.
