Skylar Diggins has signed with the Chicago Sky, the team announced on Saturday. The veteran guard has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract, according to ESPN’s Alexa Phillipou.
Diggins, 35, joins the Sky after playing the past two years with the Seattle Storm. She averaged 15.3 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 37% on 3-pointers with Seattle, who made the WNBA playoffs but lost in the first round in both of her seasons.
“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in the team’s official announcement. “She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”
Signing Diggins is the latest move in an offseason overhaul for the Sky, who finished tied for the WNBA’s worst record at 10-34 last year.

The moves began with trading Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream. Since the WNBA and its players settled on a new collective bargaining agreement and free agency opened, Chicago has also acquired guard Jacy Sheldon from the Washington Mystics in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and brought back forward Azurá Stevens.
As Pagliocca referenced, Diggins provides a playmaker to a roster that now includes Sheldon and Stevens, joining Kamila Cardoso, Hailey Van Lith and Maddy Westbeld. The Sky are reportedly working on a trade for Rickea Jackson in exchange for Ariel Atkins, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Last year, Diggins was named to the WNBA All-Star Game for the seventh time in her career. In her 11 WNBA seasons, she’s also played for the Tulsa Shock, Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury. Diggins was the Shock’s 2013 first-round pick (No. 3 overall) out of Notre Dame.
