Emily Blunt and John Krasinski met in 2008 and married in 2010.
They share two daughters named Hazel and Violet, who were born in 2014 and 2016, respectively.
They've also collaborated on two films together: A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II.
John Krasinski is Emily Blunt's "vital anchor," and not just because he's obsessed with The Devil Wears Prada. The two actors, who met in 2008 and married in 2010, have long been one of Hollywood's most loved-up couples. It all started with a chance meeting in a restaurant.
"I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend. And my friend Gray goes, ‘Oh my god, that's my friend John.’ And that was it," Blunt later explained in an interview with Seth Meyers. "He was sitting with our friend Justin Theroux, and he abandoned Justin and came over to us. He just stood there and made me laugh."
Since then, Blunt and Krasinski have welcomed two children together and also made two films together: A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. In 2024, Blunt shared her secret to a happy marriage in an red carpet interview, per People.
"Oh my God, we're like anyone else, really," she said. "You just have to keep checking in. You just have to stay connected."
As for Krasinski's love for Miranda Priestly, Emily Charlton, and Andy Sachs? Apparently the actor has "only" seen the movie roughly 75 times. According to an interview the actor did with Glamour back in 2016, he confessed to his obsession after she asked if he had seen it.
"I said, 'Yes,' and she said, 'How many times?' And I said, 'A lot.' She said, 'What's a lot?' And I said, '75 times,'" Krasinski said. "I'm lucky enough that she stayed with me and didn't realize that she had really married her stalker!"
From their whirlwind romance to what it's like working together on set, here's everything you need to know about John Krasinski and Emily Blunt's rock-solid relationship.
Blunt and Krasinski's rom-com romance began with a chance meeting at a Los Angeles restaurant in November 2008. Both actors were dining there separately with friends. Krasinski's secret sauce? He made Blunt laugh.
“It's kind of a sad, lame story," she told Seth Meyers in 2018. "I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend. And my friend Gray goes, ‘Oh my god, that's my friend John.’ And that was it. He was sitting with our friend Justin Theroux, and he abandoned Justin and came over to us. He just stood there and made me laugh.”
Krasinski, for his part, later told Ellen DeGeneres that for him, it was basically love at first sight: "It's one of those things where as soon as you meet someone, you just know."
"I wasn't really looking for a relationship," he continued. "Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh god, I think I'm going to fall in love with her.' And as I shook her hand, I went, 'I like you!' So if anyone's looking to pick up a girl, that's the way to do it."
In August 2009, less than one year after their meet-cute, Krasinski got down on one knee. "It was very casual, and I was nervous—the whole nine yards," he told Access Hollywood. "She did cry. After I cried. We both cried. But at the end of the day she said 'Yes,' which is big, right?"
The couple tied the knot the following summer. In true Hollywood frontman fashion, George Clooney lent them his estate in Lake Como, Italy, for their intimate wedding ceremony on July 10, 2010. Blunt wore a custom chiffon Marchesa gown with a diamond and platinum ring from Neil Lane for the occasion. Three years later, she gushed about her husband in an interview with InStyle.
“Meeting John really changed my life," she said. "When I feel the support that I have from him, I feel invincible. There's someone behind you on your good days and someone in front of you on your bad days.”
Blunt and Krasinski became parents for the first time with the birth of their daughter Hazel on February 16, 2014. The Office alum shared their happy news on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Wanted to let the news out directly. Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!" Little sister Violet arrived two years later, in June 2016.
"What better way to celebrate the 4th... than to announce our 4th family member!!!" Krasinski wrote on X. "2 weeks ago we met our beautiful daughter Violet #Happy4th."
So far, Hazel and Violet have largely avoided the spotlight, however they did make a rare appearance with their parents at the 2025 US Open. They also have some rather strong opinions about Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada character: Apparently they think she's the "meanest person they've ever met."
Aside from raising their kids together, Blunt and Krasinski have also collaborated professionally. For their first project together, the couple developed a post-apocalyptic thriller called A Quiet Place. Krasinski wrote and directed the film; he also played the staring role of Lee Abbott, while Blunt played his wife, Evelyn Abbott.
"I've never have loved my wife more than after we did this movie," he told People when the movie hit theaters in April 2018. "For me, it was a trust thing. We trust each other in day-to-day life for sure, but when you trust each other in this way it's different."
The following January, Blunt won the SAG Award for best supporting actress for her role in the film. "I am going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly," she said during her acceptance speech. "You are a stunning filmmaker. I am so lucky to be with you and to have done this film with you."
The success of A Quiet Place was followed by the release of A Quiet Place Part II roughly two years later. It blew expectations out of the water, becoming the first film to gross over $100 million at the box office since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, Blunt paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the movie and explained its contemporary relevance: "In the first movie, their home gets decimated and destroyed. So, the family has to venture out and it's this big theme of needing your neighbor to extend their hand to you and yet we've been living in this world of nobody wanting to do that," she said, referencing pandemic-era social distancing. "It has even more prominence now. It's sort of surreal."
Since tying the knot back in 2010, Krasinski has not been shy about how much he loves and supports his wife. Case in point? An interview with People at the opening of a fitness studio that took a heartfelt turn back in 2015.
“It’s really that we just got lucky,” he told People at the time. “It’s one of those things, I’m having more fun now than the day I met her, and it’s pretty wild. I don’t know the formula to it, but I think she’s hilarious, extremely talented, and I’m definitely her number one fan.”
Krasinski also gushed about Blunt three years later when she graced the cover of Vanity Fair during the press run for Mary Poppins Returns. "The air changes in the room when she starts doing what she does," he told the publication. "It's so honest and so pure and so powerful. It's like a superpower that she can just unlock and do so specifically with not many attempts."
