Chalmette refinery explosion: No injuries reported

There is a large law enforcement response to an explosion and fire at the refinery in Chalmette Friday afternoon. A large plume of smoke was seen over the refinery, but it unclear what caused the incident. Sources tell WDSU all employees of the refinery are accounted for and no injuries have been reported at this time. According to sources, an explosion was heard and felt across the parish. The eastbound lanes of West St. Bernard Highway from Jackson Boulevard to Palmisano Boulevard were briefly shut down for emergency responders. Those roads have since reopened.
