LINCOLN, NEB — The Hub Farmers Market has kicked off its seventh season at Union Plaza, bringing local food, live music and vendors to downtown Lincoln every Wednesday.

Organizers say the market continues to grow, with expanded space and new vendors joining this year’s lineup.

“We are excited to be back for our seventh season, and we’ve got lots of new vendors this year,” said market manager Carla McCullough Dittman. “We’ve been able to expand our area, and for the first time, we can now serve beer and wine in Union Plaza during the event.”

The market features dozens of vendors offering produce, baked goods, honey, eggs and locally raised meats, along with live music and food from Hub Cafe.

McCullough Dittman said the market has become a key midweek destination downtown.

Local farmers say the event is an important way to connect directly with customers.

“The Farmers Market is a great way to reach people and be a part of the community,” said Everett Lundquist, co-owner of Common Good Farm.

Vendors and organizers said drought and wildfire conditions affecting farmers in other parts of the country have not significantly impacted this season’s local market.

Shoppers said they value both the quality of the food and the community atmosphere.

“We like the produce and the community and the people,” said shopper Todd Sandin. “It’s all good fresh stuff; that’s why we like farmers' markets.”
