Justin Bruihl traded to Cardinals from Guardians

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash considerations today.

Bruihl, 28, has appeared in 94 Major League games over a five-year career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays.

The Petaluma, Calif., native compiled a 2-2 record with a 4.72 ERA tossing 89.2 innings pitched with 69 strikeouts and one save over his career.

In 2025, Bruihl appeared in 15 games with the American League Champion Blue Jays posting a 5.27 ERA from June 18 through the end of the season. He made one postseason appearance in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees in Game 2.

The 6-foot-2, 215 lb., southpaw was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Dodgers out of California Polytechnic State University in 2017 and was with the organization until 2023 when he was acquired by the Rockies.
