Fans of the Eagles got some bad news this week after Don Henley, the group’s last remaining founing member, told “CBS Sunday Morning” that 2026 will likely be the final year for the legendary band.

“I think this will probably be it,” Henley said in the interview according to Ultimate Classic Rock. “I feel like were getting toward the end, and that will be fine, too.”

The iconic group currently has a string of shows slated for the Sphere in Las Vegas that runs through March, and another show scheduled for May 2 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Henley was asked if he thought 2026 would be the band’s final year.

“I think so, yeah,” he replied. “And I am OK with that.”

The outlet said that Henley was asked why he felt like this might be it, and he said he would like to spend more time with his family.

“And I would like to spend more time growing vegetables,” he added.

He also said he would like to travel.

“We see the airports and the hotel room and the venue, and we don’t get out much,” he said. “I’d like to go back to the places I’ve been and see more of those places before it all disappears.”

Henley said in the interview that he does not want to have “a one-dimensional life.”

“This is great, this is wonderful, but there are other things,” he said. “There’s just lots of other things to do.”

Ultimate Classic Rock noted that the Eagles split in 1980 before reuniting in 1994. Glenn Frey, who co-founded the band with Henley, died in 2016 and was replaced by Vince Gill.

The Eagles formed in 1971 and the band has had an iconic run with six Grammys and six number-one albums. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
