STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball can clinch its series against Auburn with a Game 2 win.
The No. 11 Bulldogs (38-12, 15-10 SEC) face the No. 6 Tigers (34-14, 14-11) at Dudy Noble Field on May 8 (7:30 p.m., SEC Network).
MSU won the series opener, 10-3, in one of its best games against SEC opponents. Pitchers Tomas Valincius and Jack Bauer struck out 15 batters and only allowed four hits with zero walks. The MSU offense totaled 16 hits, highlighted by Bryce Chance's grand slam.

Bryce Chance hit an RBI single with two outs in the seventh inning to cut Auburn's lead to 4-3.
Reed Stallman hit an opposite field two-run home run to cut Auburn's lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning.
Duke Stone was pulled after allowing the fourth run to Auburn in the fifth inning. He pitched 4⅔ innings with seven hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.
The Tigers have taken a 4-0 lead with two more runs in the fifth inning.
Auburn scored two runs off Duke Stone in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. Chase Fralick hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, then Chris Rembert hit an RBI single.
Both teams have two hits but no runs so far.
Mississippi State enters the game No. 7 in RPI. Auburn is No. 4.
