According to the Rochester Fire Department, firefighters and emergency crews entered the confined space to safely reach him just before 2 p.m., and crews removed him from the pipe.

Rochester, N.Y. — Police have closed several roadways downtown in the area of Court and Exchange streets due to a search for a man who escaped police custody Saturday morning while being processed downtown, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

RPD, NYS Police, and surrounding town and village agencies are currently assisting MCSO in locating Eric Fountain and taking him into custody.

Eric is described as a white male, 37 years old, of medium build and 5-feet-11-inches tall.
