The Wisconsin Badgers continued their dream run in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday by defeating No. 2 North Dakota, 2-1, in the Frozen Four semifinals.

Wisconsin’s two first-period goals within 30 seconds of game time set the early tone. Mike Hastings’ team then held North Dakota at bay until the final minutes, when, with an empty net, the Fighting Hawks scored to cut the Badgers’ lead to one. Wisconsin held on to the final buzzer, completing the improbable upset.

The Badgers entered the NCAA Tournament ranked 12th. They defeated No. 3 Michigan State in the quarterfinals and No. 2 North Dakota in the semifinals. They will face Denver, which outlasted No. 1 Michigan in two overtimes in Thursday’s other semifinal.

For those wondering when the Badgers will vie for their first national title since 2006, here is the date and time for the championship tilt.
