EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) — Xcel Energy is urging customers across northwestern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to prepare for severe weather as thunderstorms and tornadoes threaten the region during Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

Xcel says crews are stationed throughout the region ready to respond when severe weather strikes Monday evening.

Customers can report outages through the Xcel’s mobile app, online at xcelenergy.com/out, or by texting OUT to 98936. The utility recommends staying away from downed power lines and building emergency kits with flashlights, batteries, water and nonperishable food.

The National Weather Service has issued alerts for severe thunderstorms with large hail, strong winds and potential for tornadoes. Find the latest forecast details on our First Warn Weather page.
