AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – A small plane crashed Thursday afternoon into an Akron home, killing two people and sparking a fire.
Akron Police Lt. Michael Murphy said the deceased were occupants of the plane.
FlightAware, which tracks airplanes, indicates the plane involved in the crash took off from Akron Fulton Airport at 2:03 p.m.
Firefighters were called around 2:45 p.m. to Canterbury Circle for reports of an aircraft crashed into a home.
According to a news release, firefighters evacuated two homes as a precaution, and no additional injuries were reported.
The victims were found dead inside the plane. Their names have not been released.
Akron Fire Department remains on scene and will handle the investigation.
