That’s why I regularly dig through the latest movies arriving on and leaving streaming to highlight the ones actually worth your valuable watch time. This includes Netflix’s new comedy set in a college dorm, produced by Adam Sandler and starring his daughter in the lead role. For a more emotional movie, Colleen Hoover’s romantic drama “Reminders of Him” is now available to stream at home.
There’s also Mads Mikkelsen and Sigourney Weaver’s R-rated fantasy horror “Dust Bunny” on HBO Max. I don’t know about you, but that sentence alone is enough to pique my interest. So without further ado, let’s dive into the best new movies on streaming this weekend.

‘Roommates’ (Netflix)
If you’re looking for a brand-new unhinged comedy, “Roommates” is the perfect pick now that it’s streaming on Netflix. The college-set film comes from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison banner, starring his eldest daughter, Sadie Sandler, in the lead role. It looks set to feel painfully relatable for anyone with a few awkward college stories tucked away. It’s hard to tell whether it’ll be a critical success, but it’s still likely to climb into Netflix’s top 10 over the coming days.
“Roommates” follows Devon (Sandler), a shy college freshman starting her first year away from home, who chooses the confident and unpredictable Celeste (Chloe East) as her roommate. The two quickly become close as they figure out dorm life, parties, and new friendships. However, small tensions begin to build, and their once-easy bond starts to fracture. Their living situation quickly spirals into a chaotic and increasingly hostile dynamic.

‘Reminders of Him’ (PVOD)
Building on the success of “It Ends With Us” and “Regretting You,” “Reminders of Him” is the newest Colleen Hoover story to make its way to the big screen. It carries the expected mix of emotional conversations, lingering looks, and dramatic storytelling that fans of these adaptations will instantly recognize. Even so, the appeal of these films remains undeniable. Plus, it plays directly to its target audience, focusing on familiar strengths instead of trying to reinvent the approach.
“Reminders of Him” follows Kenna (Maika Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving time in prison for a fatal car accident involving her boyfriend Scotty (Maika Monroe). She hopes to reconnect with her young daughter, Diem, who is being raised by Scotty’s parents, but faces firm resistance. While trying to rebuild her life, she forms an unexpected connection with Ledger (Tyriq Withers), a local bar owner tied to her past.

‘Dust Bunny’ (HBO Max)
Sometimes, it’s nice to watch a completely original film that dares to be different. “Dust Bunny” is a prime example. This fantasy action-horror is a striking visual spectacle, a vividly styled fairy-tale nightmare that leans into whimsy, danger, and emotional weight. It prioritizes mood over explanation and instinct over logic, creating something eerie, playful, and surprisingly moving. It’s odd, but surprisingly beautiful.
“Dust Bunny” follows 8-year-old Aurora (Sophie Sloan), who becomes convinced a creature is hiding beneath her bed after strange events in her home. When those around her dismiss her fears, she turns to her neighbour, a quiet hitman (Mads Mikkelsen) with a violent past, and asks him to eliminate the threat. As he reluctantly agrees, the two become entangled in escalating dangers that draw in multiple assassins.

‘Balls Up’ (Prime Video)
If you’re a fan of comedies, “Balls Up” is one to keep on your Prime Video watchlist. Directed by Peter Farrelly, known for “Dumb and Dumber,” and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of “Deadpool” fame, the film’s trailer clearly points to a chaotic, over-the-top comedy packed with loud, raunchy energy. While it doesn’t look like a serious awards player, it does appear to be leaning fully into being a very silly watch.
“Balls Up” follows marketing executives Brad (Mark Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser), whose attempt to pitch a bold World Cup sponsorship for an unconventional condom brand spirals into chaos after a drunken celebration in Brazil triggers a major international incident. As the fallout escalates, the pair find themselves blamed for disrupting a match and quickly become targets of angry fans, criminals, and authorities across the country.

‘Undertone’ (PVOD)
Billed as the “scariest movie you’ll ever hear,” “Undertone” is designed as an immersive audio-driven experience, using layered sound, silence, and distortion to create tension and unease throughout its runtime. While it prioritises style over substance and often plays more like a thriller, “Undertone” is ideal for anyone wanting something different from standard horror. It’s sensory overload in the best sense.
“Undertone” follows Evy (Nina Kiri), a lonely podcast host who records episodes about unexplained audio phenomena while caring for her critically ill mother in their secluded family home. When her co-host receives a set of anonymous recordings from a couple experiencing disturbing sounds, Evy begins investigating the files as they become increasingly unsettling and personal. Trapped in her home, she tries to trace where the recordings originate and who is sending them.
