RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KATV) — In Russellville, the grills have gone quiet at a longtime River Valley favorite.
Feltner’s Whatta-burger, known for serving burgers and fries to generations of Arkansans, closed its doors for the final time. The announcement came Friday on Facebook.
Owners Missy and Randy Ellis said they are heartbroken to close the restaurant. Feltner’s Whatta-burger was opened 58 years ago by Missy Ellis’ father, Bob Feltner, and it sits across the street from Arkansas Tech University.
Over the years, it became a River Valley legend and a regular stop for students, locals and travelers passing through on Interstate 40. Burgers, fried pies and milkshakes helped build its reputation, and in 2021 the restaurant was inducted into the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame.
Now, Russellville is saying goodbye to a place many considered among the best around. Feltner’s Whatta-burger will be missed.
