It’s no secret that Iga Świątek’s favorite slam is Roland Garros.
She is a four-time French Open champion and at one point a few years ago, looked to be a dominant force on clay.
But the last two seasons, Świątek hasn’t looked formidable on this surface. She lost in the Round of 32 at the Madrid Open before losing in the semis in Rome.
Świątek’s last French Open title came in 2024. If she is to win here again, she has a difficult draw. Świątek may have to play Jelena Ostapenko in the third round, a player she’s never beaten.
She’s in the same half of the draw as Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina. Don’t forget about a potential final matchup with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Not easy indeed so it will be fascinating to see if Świątek can rekindle her clay court magic here at Roland Garros.
