Apple TV+’s hit drama ‘Severance,’ one of the most anticipated series in recent years, is set to start filming its third series in April 2026, according to industry trade publication Production Weekly.

What To Know

Production Weekly confirmed that production on season three is officially set to take place from April through December 2026. The series is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ as early as June 2027, though a September launch remains possible based on the company’s previous release patterns.

The schedule was first reported on the social media platform X by Apple TV News Hub, which posted “Severance Season 3 is set to film from April to December 2026. Expected to release on AppleTV in Summer 2027”. It was later confirmed by 9to5Mac on December 4, 2025.

‘Severance’ season two concluded with considerable fanfare, receiving a 94% rating and averaging 9/10 on popular review site Rotten Tomatoes, which landed it on numerous “best-of-2025” rankings, including from Entertainment Weekly and IGN, fueling high expectations and demand for news about the show’s continuation.

Severance Season 2 Still

Sources from 9to5 Mac noted that scripts for the new season were recently finalized, and public comments from series star Patricia Arquette suggested a filming start as late as spring 2026. New data from Production Weekly clarifies that Apple is committing to an eight-month filming window, followed by an estimated six to nine months of post-production. This places the premiere of season three potentially as soon as summer or as late as early fall 2027.

The reported production timeline shows there’s a slightly shorter gap, compared to the wait between Seasons 1 and 2, but fans will still face a lengthy delay—over a year after filming concludes—before the new episodes arrive on Apple TV+.

What People Are Saying

Review site Rotten Tomatoes posted several quotes about season 2 of Severance from movie critics such as Jeremy Mathai or Lauren Sarner.

“For those concerned about the long wait, Severance hasn’t lost a single step since its debut in early 2022,” said Mathai from Slashfilm.

Starner, from The New York Post, said: “In this age where too much entertainment feels ‘made by committee’ or ‘made by algorithm,’ this is a rare show that feels like a singular creative vision. Even though 2025 is young, there’s no doubt that Severance will end up on most ‘best shows of the year’ lists and be a serious awards contender again.”

What Happens Next

With the production schedule now public, fans and industry watchers will look for casting announcements, director and crew assignments and possible details about narrative developments.

Industry experts expect continued updates from Production Weekly and other verified industry sources regarding any changes or adjustments to the schedule. Additional details about ‘Severance’ season three’s direction, cast and release strategy are likely to emerge in the months leading up to the 2026 filming window.
