AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect or suspects accused of multiple shootings on Saturday and Sunday.

The suspects have carried out up to nine attacks, injuring as many as four people, according to preliminary information.

According to police, there is no specific motive or location to the shootings, and they appear to be random. At least two of the shootings occurred at Austin fire stations.

“At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and APD asks that our community remain vigilant,” the department said in a press release on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a male in his late teens, driving a black or dark blue 2012 Hyundai Sonata with a broken right passenger window, pictured below. The suspect may also be driving a gold sedan or a white Kia Optima, police said.

A shelter-in-place has been issued for a large area of South Austin inside Slaughter Lane, McKinney Falls Parkway, Ben White Boulevard and Escarpment Boulevard due to ongoing law enforcement incident. Residents in that area are asked to stay indoors until further notice.
