Actress Eve Plumb, famous for her role as Jan Brady, shared personal insights into her career and life while promoting her new memoir, “Happiness Included,” during a series of interviews on April 23, 2026. The 67-year-old performer reflected on her childhood connection to the Monkees and her experiences with legendary guest stars on the set of “The Brady Bunch.”

Plumb revealed that her father, music producer Neely Plumb, had signed the Monkees to RCA, which led to a personal acquaintance with singer Davy Jones. She recalled to the Pop Culture Preservation Society that Jones jokingly promised to marry her when she grew up, a comment she viewed as harmless at the time.

“In my real life, my father had signed the Monkees to RCA in his job,” Plumb said in an interview with the Pop Culture Preservation Society. “And so I would go and listen to the Monkees record, and Davy Jones used to say, ‘Well you know I’m going to I’m going to marry you when you grow up.’”

Despite the iconic nature of the 1971 episode “Getting Davy Jones,” Plumb admitted in a recent interview with Newsday that she was often too young to recognize other major guest stars. She did not know comic actress Imogene Coca or Jim Backus during their appearances, as she preferred watching “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” over the reruns of her peers.

The memoir also addresses more serious topics, including Plumb’s journey into remission from breast cancer diagnosed in the early 2010s. She explained that she initially hesitated to share her medical history but was encouraged by family to include it because of its significant impact on her life.

Beyond acting, Plumb and her husband, Ken Pace, now operate a lifestyle and coffee business called PlumbGoods. She is scheduled to appear at the Huntington bookstore The Next Chapter on May 1, 2026, for a talk and book-signing event regarding her life after the iconic sitcom.
