There comes a point in every cultural moment when the generations stop nodding along and start raising an eyebrow. For Harrison Ford, that point has apparently arrived. In a moment that felt equal parts exasperated and endearing, the“Shrinking“star addressed Gen Z slang head-on with a blunt, four-word verdict: “I’m over this.”
Harrison Ford seems to struggle understanding this Gen Z slang
Harrison Ford has hit a wall with Gen Z slang, his trademark deadpan breaking into the look of someone decoding an alien dialect.
What began as a straightforward tip about disconnecting on flights shifted into a funny generational disconnect when Sherry Cola’s phrasing left Ford confused.
While explaining her travel habits, the “Shrinking” Season 3 star mentioned “raw-dogging” flights. The slang threw Harrison Ford off, setting off a funny back-and-forth between them about the term’s definition.
“I will raw-dog a flight,” Sherry Cola shared during an appearance on Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up. “I will just — here’s the thing. We’re doing the most all the time, right? So, sometimes silence and solitude is necessary, and just like sitting on a plane watching nothing, doing nothing, just staring blankly at … it’s called raw-dogging a flight.”
Before she could finish her explanation, Harrison Ford jumped in, saying, “That’s not what ‘raw-dog’ means.”
“Do you want to explain to us what it actually means?” host Nicole Ryan teased.
“They told me a little late,” the “Blade Runner” actor said. “I really didn’t, well, why would I run across something that …”
“I’m over this part of anybody’s life,” Ford further added. “I have five children. People – I never – what does this mean? Why do you let me do this? And then you make fun of me. It’s because I’m old.”
The moment felt like a nod to a Season 1 scene of “Shrinking”. In that episode, his character thinks raw-dogging means talking to someone who doesn’t want to talk to you.
The Apple TV+ series features Harrison Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades, a longtime therapist balancing his Parkinson’s diagnosis with his role as a mentor to junior colleagues.
