Jack Ryan: Ghost War begins streaming on Prime Video in May
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War will debut on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. This is not Season 5 of the Jack Ryan series, but rather a feature film that continues its story. The streamer released a trailer last month, showcasing the franchise’s signature espionage and action-packed elements.
Andrew Bernstein, known for directing Fear the Walking Dead, Ozark, and It: Welcome to Derry, helmed the film. Alongside starring as the titular character, John Krasinski also serves as a co-producer and co-writer. While he wrote the script with Noah Oppenheim, he co-wrote the screenplay with Aaron Rabin.
The franchise is based on Tom Clancy’s highly acclaimed book series, Jack Ryan. There are over 30 novels in the author’s lineup. It also includes spin-off series, all of which fall under his Ryanverse. Despite the large catalog of source material, the upcoming feature is an original story.
Jack Ryan: Ghost War takes place after the events of the show, in which Jack Ryan has left the CIA. But after an old black-ops unit goes rogue and creates chaos, he is pulled back into the world of espionage to stop them.
The film’s supporting cast includes Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Michael Kelly as Mike November, Betty Gabriel as Elizabeth Wright, Sienna Miller as Emma Marlow, and Max Beesley in an unnamed role.
Along with Jack Ryan: Ghost War, Prime Video is also adding Citadel Season 2 on May 6, One Battle After Another on May 23, and Spider-Noir on May 27.
