PHILADELPHIA — After sitting out the each of the first two games of the Phillies’ series against the Reds, was once again out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s series finale at Citizens Bank Park.

Schwarber is dealing with a stomach issue, according to interim manager Don Mattingly.

“He’s getting better,” Mattingly said prior to Wednesday’s game. “We actually waited a while to do the lineup, but we’re still not quite there yet.”

Mattingly added it’s possible that Schwarber could be available to pinch-hit on Wednesday if he improves throughout the day.

Monday marked the first game Schwarber had missed since Sept. 11, 2024, ending his streak of 225 consecutive games played.

Schwarber leads the Majors with 20 home runs this season, including hitting nine homers in his past 10 games.

Bryce Harper — the only Phillie to play in every game so far this season — took Schwarber’s spot at DH for the second time in Schwarber’s three-game absence. Harper was back in his usual No. 3 spot in the order, with Adolis García moving up to hit second behind Trea Turner.

“Just trying to give [García] a little boost, and try to get Bryce out of the two — I know he doesn’t like it,” Mattingly said. “We try to do it sparingly, but since it’s extended past a day or two, just want to get him out of there and give him a different feel.”
