NBA legend Magic Johnson feels Monday night’s double-overtime Game 1 thriller won’t mark the last time fans watch Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs open the conference finals against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Johnson said late Monday night on social media he thinks the rest of the West “may not have a chance to win the Western Conference Finals for the next 5-7 years.”

“The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are just that good! They are talented, deep, athletic and both teams are well coached,” Johnson said.

Johnson posted shortly after Wembanyama posted 41 points and 24 rebounds while leading the Spurs to a 122-115 win in double overtime despite Thunder star Jalen Williams returning from injury.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who received his second consecutive MVP trophy earlier Monday night, posted 24 points and 12 assists as the Spurs held him to 7-for-23 shooting.

The loss marked the first of the playoffs for the Thunder, who swept the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers on their way to the conference finals.

The Spurs, which took five games to eliminate the Portland Trail Blazers and six to bounce the Minnesota Timberwolves, haven’t trailed since Game 1 of the second round.

Williams and Gilgeous-Alexander will now look to help the Thunder even the series against another Western Conference powerhouse when Game 2 tips off Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. ET against the visiting Spurs.
